Last Friday Vicki McDonald, she recently got marries so I don’t know if this is her last name still or not, our district senator came and gave us a speech on term limits, concealed weapon law, immigration tuition bill, increase in senator’s pay, increase in urban senators, and the minimum wage. She has probably done a lot of speaking events in her life time because she was a very good speaker. We had the event in a small room in our school there wasn’t much distance between her and us. So it was nice that she was close to us so we could hear her very good. Her projection was very good, helped that we had a small room, and she had very good hand gestures. She kept very good eye contact to! One thing she did very well was when she answered questions she did a very good job of answering them professionally. One thing I didn’t like about her was that she forgot she was in Spalding, she kept calling us Greeley!

Second Public Speaking Event

I went to the school board meeting the other night for my 2nd public speaking event. It was actually pretty boring. They never made eye contact with each other and all you ever here was something like this "motion to close? I second. I third" and so on. They were all good speakers but it was just a real boring public speaking event.

Citation Excercise

I finished my citation excercise today. It wasnt to bad but I had to go back and find all my articles which took about half the period. It wasnt to bad writing the paper it just took awhile to find all my stuff for it.

Well I got bored and figured i'd post something today. I got 3rd in thd Discuss and 6th in it last week. So its the first time I've medaled at a meet and I lettered in the process. Sometime last week I found out I get to play in our conference All-Star game so thats pretty cool. Easter weekend went by fast and I didnt do much besides play video games and visit with the family. I'm now going to work on my speach so peace out!

Nebraska Access and Google

Today I messed around with Nebraska Access and Google and learned a lot about both of them. I searched Electronic Gaming Monthly and found some of the articles I had just recently read. This will be a big help on future term papers in college.
On google I learned alot of stuff I couldnt do before that will be useful to me in college. On http://www.google.com/unclesam I searched http://www.au.af.mil/au/awc/awcgate/cpc-pubs/farr.htm
Both these sites will be a big help for my term papers in college.

Well I got bored and decided to work on my blog. Last week I found out that I was on our All-District 1st team for basketball. And today I was reading the GI Independent and found out that I was All State Honorable mention. This is pretty awesome since I never started a game in high school until my Senior year. My senior year is about over with around 20 days left. Its going to be a lot different next year. I haven't decided where Im going to go to school next year but I should know pretty soon.

Self Inventory

I completed my self-inventory worksheet a couple of days ago. I learned that I havent been to many places over the years! Sure am glad Im going to Hawaii this summer. Then I posted some of the things I value. Mainly my family. After that I posted some of my dream jobs. Most of them are in the video game industry but I also like sports alot so I could end up doing something with sports. I like playing football, basketball, track, and golf. Since we live in such a small town theres not a lot of volunteer work but I coached baseball last summer. Some magazines I read are EGM and Nintendo power. I also read sports sections of any paper. Im a big fan of the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings books. Looking back at my interests I could write my speech on sports heroes or Hawii's tourism.

Speaking Events

We went and watched a speaker for Tom Osborne. I think her name was Mrs. Eberle. She had a projector and she projected her presentation up on the wall. Her presentation was in two parts. Her first part was on entrepreneurship, where she discussed how many possibilities exist for people who would like to start their own businesses in Nebraska especially in rural areas. Her second part was on Meth and other drugs and how they can affect your life and community. When she spoke it was hard to hear her because the microphone wasnt working and she had to adjust her voice so the audience could hear. Her presentation was held at 2 o'clock at our city auditorium.

Im going to attend a couple of public speaking events in the next couple of weeks. Im going to go see Joe Hanapal speak at church and we have a couple of speakers coming in the next few weeks.

Self Intro Speech

Well the creation of my self introduction speech went pretty smooth. We had to rewrite my speech so that it would work with my powerpoint. We also had trouble taping it because we had to much light and couldnt see the powerpoints slides. I thought I did pretty good. Well I gotta go work on some other speech stuff now. Hi my name is James Michael Schmeits. My nicknames Ponch if you havent figured that one out already. Im involved in basketball, football, track, speech, one act, band, and chorus at Spalding Public School. The better of the two schools in spalding. Our basketball record is 7-7 so its not great but it should get better. This is my first blog so it should get better at it as I go along.
